According to the mayor-candidate, the city cannot be developed effectively if someone is constantly making a political product out of fighting with Viktor Orbán, while the noteworthy developments in Budapest are not carried out by the capital municipality, but by the Hungarian state.

Alexandra Szentkirályi, the mayoral candidate of Fidesz, gave an exclusive interview to the Magyar Nemzet. in the work of the municipality, and between 2014 and 2019, at the request of István Tarlós, he continued his work as deputy mayor, in which he was responsible for the humanities in the capital.

"It was quite a multifaceted task, and during this short decade I also got to see how the management of a city works. Then, as part of my work as a government spokesman, I got to know how the government works. So I know both terrains and how to run a city efficiently," said Alexandra Szentkirályi.

The Fidesz candidate also explained how he would end the war between the capital and the government:

"The first thing is to sit down and start negotiations between the two parties. It is certainly not forward-looking if someone, like the mayor, constantly complains and points at the government and explains why it is not their business. The people of Budapest rightfully expect someone not only to talk, but also to roll up their sleeves and get to work. The fact that they did not work meaningfully can be seen in the city, unfortunately. If you walk through Budapest, you will see in many places that it is as if there is a forever garbage collection that is never cleaned. Not a single centimeter of tram line or metro line has been built since 2019, and in the meantime, the construction of a washroom on Blaha Lujza Square is considered an achievement. One could list the number of tasks in Budapest that need to be solved together with the government. Our city is not only home to the 1.7 million people who live here, but also the nation's capital".

Szentkirályi sees Ferenc Gyurcsány as the cause of this war between the government and Budapest, "who clearly told Gergely Karácsony that he must confront the government".

Ferenc Gyurcsány told Gergely Karácsony how to behave with the government, and the mayor has been slavishly trying to carry out these instructions ever since, despite the fact that seeing the results before 2019, it is clear how much can be achieved if the capital cooperates and the government", emphasized the candidate, who then listed the successes of the city administration before Christmas, and then added: the developments promised by Gergely Karácsony are unfulfilled promises left in the air.

"If someone goes into the City Hall today and looks around, they feel that they have entered another time plane, where the third Gyurcsány government was established. Key positions in the capital are occupied by Gyurcsány's people," stated Szentkirályi, who would be the first to clear this area of people from the dollar left.

"Transportation in a big city will always be a complex and sensitive issue. That is why I do not agree with Gergely Karácsony trying to organize traffic by painting stripes in a completely irresponsible way. The result of this is that cyclists often have to swerve by inches next to buses and cars in traffic jams. The situation that has developed is not good for those who drive and spend much more time in traffic jams, it is not good for cyclists either, because it is dangerous, and it is not good for us, the people of Budapest, who are forced to live in a city with increasingly deteriorating air," Szentkirályi listed the problems.
