The jihadist movements use intimidating messages to indicate that they will not stand idly by if Western countries want to put order in the matter of the troubled Muslim places of worship.

Another jihadist threat hit Italy and the Papal City-State after the largest right-wing government party, the Italian Brothers, announced that it would regulate the transparency of mosques in Italy by law: this would mean that places that are currently registered as cultural centers but actually function as mosques would be closed.

With this move, most of the Islamic places of worship would be locked.

According to the Ministry responsible for infrastructure, facilities registered as cultural centers without a permit, often built in garages, warehouses, and vacant commercial units, are not suitable for the safe accommodation of hundreds of people, and at the same time, their control is impossible.

Following the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, the Home Office ordered inspections of Islamic cultural centers as they believed there was a high likelihood that people who visited them could become radicalised.

Another problem is that communication in the centers is not in Italian, which makes official control even more difficult.

The governing party of the Italian Brothers submitted a draft law to make the activities of cultural organizations operating in Italy transparent, and this also affects the places of worship of the Muslim community. The intention of the right-wing government caused a serious backlash.

New threats against Italy and the Vatican have arrived on the Internet from the Islamic world. The jihadist movements of North African countries use intimidating messages to indicate that they will not passively tolerate the intervention of Western countries.

"With the power of jihad and prayer, Islam will spread throughout the world. Allah promised that Rome and the Vatican would fall. Muslims are taking over the world," they write in comments on social media and news portals in North African countries.

The persons registering the threats do not currently live on Italian territory, however, it cannot be ignored that hate speech and threats can influence members of the Muslim community living in Italy in the direction of radicalization.

According to statistics, there are currently one and a half million Muslims in Italy.

Hiding terrorist cells are a serious problem from the point of view of national security. The Italian secret services are on constant alert to check the entire territory of the country in order to detect a possible terrorist attack in time.

Since the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, a number of persons dangerous to public security have been deported from the country, who carried out jihad propaganda or were associated with terrorist criminal organizations.
