US President Joe Biden has signed into law the Gun Safer Act, which is the most important piece of legislation in the United States in decades to help limit gun ownership.

Biden himself urged the development of the law

The president signed the legislation into law on Saturday, which was voted by the Senate on Thursday and the House of Representatives on Friday, and which seemed unimaginable before the recent mass murders with firearms.

Joe Biden himself pushed for the law, and both major parties participated in it.

The president called the law a historic achievement, which he said "will save many lives." Biden signed the document a few hours before leaving for two European summits.

They can confiscate weapons that have already been sold

The law, which was created as a result of compromises between the two major parties, allocating 13 billion dollars for prevention programs and victim assistance, among other things, subjects the background of those planning to purchase weapons to scrutiny in order to filter out those who are dangerous to society. It allows the authorities of individual states to confiscate weapons that have already been sold in justified cases and seeks to ensure greater control over the illegal arms trade.

The tightening of American regulations has been accelerated by the serious armed rampages of recent months. In May alone, there were two mass shootings: 19 children and 2 adults died at an elementary school in Texas, and 10 people of color were killed in a supermarket shooting in Buffalo, New York.
