According to Marija Zaharova, "Eurovision surpasses any orgy, coven or ritual sacrilege".

Marija Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed her opinion on the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest on her Telegram channel, which was won by a "non-binary" Swiss singer, Nemo, with his song The Code.

Zaharova - who took a stab at Western European culture not for the first time - said after announcing the results of the decades-old competition:

Eurovision 2024 surpasses any orgy, coven (witch society - ed.) or ritual sacrilege.

Western Europe's funeral is going smoothly. There are no surprises."

The 24-year-old Nemo representing Switzerland won the final of this year's 68th Eurovision Song Contest in the Malmö Arena in Sweden with his song The Code. The non-binary performer crushed the winner's trophy on stage, where she celebrated with a non-binary flag in her colorful feather jacket and pink silk skirt.

Eurovision winner Nemo highlighted after the finale that he is incredibly proud to be the first non-binary person to win the song contest.

"I am incredibly proud, not only of myself, but of our entire community. For everyone who is non-binary, gender flexible, transgender, for people who openly dare to be themselves. We need more compassion, we need more empathy, we need to listen to each other, we need to try to understand each other instead of just talking about each other. I hope this victory is a way to remember this for a long time," said the artist.

Nemo revealed they had to smuggle their non-binary flag into the event after Eurovision organizers told them they couldn't use it in the flag parade or during their performance.

“I had to smuggle my flag in because Eurovision said no. This is clearly a double standard. I broke the rule and broke the trophy. The trophy can be glued on - and Eurovision might need a touch up every now and then,' Nemo stated.

The Russians would organize an "interview".

Unsurprisingly, with its "scandalous production", Ukraine also won a podium place at the said song contest.

It should be remembered that Russia has not participated in the competition in recent years. as the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced on 25 February 2022 that it would exclude Russian artists from the festival due to the situation in Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russians plan to hold the first televised music competition, Intervision, in 2024.

Several countries have already expressed their interest
