The government also provides protection to Hungarian families during the economic difficulties caused by the war, said Csaba Dömötör, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Cabinet Office, in a video published on Facebook on Friday.

He said: the government introduced a stop on bank account fees and card fees so that banks could not pass on their burdens to customers. The precedent for the decision is that the government announced the anti-war action plan this week. Based on this, the multinational companies that accumulated extra profits in wartime must pay a defense contribution. This also applies to the banking sector.

"We consider it important that the banks cannot transfer the burdens imposed on the families. That is why we are introducing the rate hike stop in relation to fees, costs and other payment obligations related to residential accounts"

said Csaba Dömötör. This means that until December 31, financial service providers may not unilaterally implement direct or indirect fee increases for retail customers' bank accounts. This ban applies to all fees associated with payment accounts. It applies to existing contracts as well as new ones. The detailed rules were published in the Magyar Közlöny, the state secretary added.

"Our goal is to provide protection to Hungarian families even during the economic difficulties caused by the war" -
