The Hungarian men's epee team consisting of Áron Szilágyi, András Szatmári, Csanád Gémesi, and Krisztián Rabb lost in a high-quality, memorable match, thus winning the silver medal on Wednesday at the Paris Olympics.

The Hungarians previously defeated the Italians 45-38 and the Iranians 45-43. In the final, they faced the defending champions and Olympic champions in 2012, South Korea, who won 45-41.

Prior to this, in 1996, in Atlanta, the Hungarian men's epee team was a finalist, then the group consisting of Csaba Köves, Bence Szabó and József Navarette, who is now helping the national team as a coach, lost to the Russians, and thus also won the silver medal.

The men's fencers won the third medal of the Hungarian delegation in Paris. Last Saturday, duelist Eszter Muhari finished third, and just forty minutes earlier, Kristóf Milák finished second in the 200-meter butterfly.
