Our competitors won two Hungarian medals in the women's kayak-canoe 500 meters at the Paris Olympics.
Dóra Alida Gazsó of Tamara Csipes finished second in the K-2 500 meter event. Noémi Pupp and Sára Fojt tied for the bronze medal after a finish photo.
From the intermediate races two hours earlier, the former Hungarian boat advanced in third place, the latter in fourth place. In the final, they rowed next to each other on tracks 7 and 8 near the stands.
The bronze medal they won in the foursome on Thursday with a bravura performance boosted the Hungarian female kayakers, the unexpected success filled them with self-confidence, at least this was visible in their competition.
Csipes and Gazsó were already second behind the New Zealanders halfway through the distance, and they kept this position in a big fight, while Pupp and Fojt, who were still sixth at 250, caught up with a ferocious hair and reached the finish line together with the Germans.
For many minutes there was complete uncertainty, the first and second place were soon
but the other Hungarian pair and the German duo of Paulina Paszek and Jule Marie Hake waited on the pier for the final result to be announced. In the end, a tie was declared with 1:39.46 minutes. Tsipesés reached the finish line only seven centuries earlier.
The now seven-time Olympic champion Lisa Carrington of New Zealand, who won this number with another pair in Tokyo, now won confidently with Alicia Hoskin.
Csipes, previously a two-time Olympic winner with the foursome and fourth in pairs with Erika Medveczky in Tokyo, won his fifth Olympic medal after two golds, one silver and one bronze each.
The two female kayak pairs won the 12th and 13th podium positions of the Hungarian delegation at the Paris Olympics.
