Hungarian education should not be underestimated, but appreciated, and we should get used to the fact that anyone who dares to say good things about education is despised, said the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior (BM) on Saturday at the Tranzit festival in Tihany.
Bence of Rétvári Prussian or Finnish - What redeems the education issue? during the discussion, he highlighted: the education, safety, environment, and school of our children are the most important things in life. He added that the way children are brought up in the family and then in school will be the same in the future.
The state secretary touched on the fact that the Hungarian public discourse unfortunately drags schools down, and then drew attention to the fact that we need to get rid of the trend that those who praise something in Hungarian education, those who dare to say good things, are despised.
Bence Rétvári also mentioned banning phones in schools in his presentation. As he said, with this they want to ensure that the children perform as well as possible in educational institutions. He added,
hundreds of thousands of students receive tablets, tablets and free textbooks, thereby promoting their learning.
He also said that one of the important tasks of education is to reduce social differences, but teachers cannot be expected to solve all social problems outside of school.
Bence Rétvári touched on the fact that in Hungary there are 10.8 students per teacher, while the EU average is 12.1.
The state secretary said that almost 13,000 people applied for teacher training this year, and only 5,000 twenty years ago.
Educational researcher Rita Pécsi drew attention to the fact that the "educational power" of Hungarian folk tradition would be of great value in schools and would develop many competencies. He said the goal of education is to "raise a happy, creative, communicative person with roots." He added that the task of teacher training is to have a "huge methodological basket" and to be able to extract what is needed from it.
The education researcher highlighted the need to further develop the institutions that educate children for community, family life, communication and emotional intelligence. It is necessary to examine the extent to which Hungarian education can support this
he added.
