According to a recent survey, just over a third of likely voters support Joe Biden running for president again. And if the current president were to decide in favor of "re-election", two-thirds of the respondents expect him to prove himself in the primary election. Waiting due to, among other things, weak popularity indicators may favor Kamala Harris.

the latest Rasmussen Reports poll , only 39 percent of likely voters in the United States support Joe Biden running again in the upcoming US presidential election. On the other hand, almost half of the voters (48 percent) believe that the reigning president should not run for office again.

Biden said in a short interview on Monday, in response to a journalist's question, that he plans to run for re-election, but that he is "not yet prepared" .

Previously, there were reports that the Democratic president would make his announcement around State of the Union address a report published by axios last week , the president's advisers and close allies do not expect Biden to make his intention official any time soon, and may even wait until autumn.

The unusual wait can be explained by several reasons: on the one hand, if Biden were to later decide not to run for a second term due to weak popularity indicators, then the current delay could give an advantage to his vice president, Kamala Harris. On the other hand, at the beginning of the summer, the president will also have to deal with the issues of the debt ceiling and the budget impasse with the Republicans in the House of Representatives.

The survey also shows that 66 percent of the respondents expect the president to face Democratic challengers in the primary if he runs for re-election. According to only 21 percent of the respondents, this is not necessary.

Earlier, author and "spiritual thinker" Marianne Williamson announced she would run for the Democratic nomination, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. filed the necessary paperwork and pledged to challenge Biden in 2024.
