The training costs are supported by the state with an interest-free loan. Mothers planning to have children participating in higher education and training can count on a special family support discount, András Tállai informed MTI.

The student loan can bring relief to hundreds of thousands of participants in adult education, as well as students in vocational and adult education, said the State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance responsible for parliamentary affairs. The number of those affected may continue to grow, as more than a hundred thousand applied for higher education this year, about ten thousand more than last year, he added.

Students in higher education and those participating in vocational training and adult education are also entitled to the preferential loan, which has two types: a loan with free use and a loan with restricted use that can be used for the training fee. Students can apply for a completely free loan of up to HUF 150,000 per month. The interest rate is very favorable, only 1.99 percent, and can be withdrawn either in monthly installments or in one sum every six months. Fixed-use training loans are even more favorable, as they are interest-free. This type of loan can therefore only be used to finance training costs, up to HUF 500,000 in adult education, up to the cost of the entire study in higher education, and neither a credit check nor collateral is required for its application - explained András Tállai.

The student loan benefits for having children are also exemplary in the European Union, András Tállai stated. The repayment of the loan is suspended for three years from the 91st day of pregnancy, and if the second child is born after taking out the loan, then the mother only has to repay half of the loan debt, and after the birth of the third child, the entire debt is forgiven, explained the state secretary. The numbers speak for themselves, since last year more than two thousand mothers with young children took advantage of the opportunity, requesting a total of two billion forints of debt forgiveness, noted András Tállai.

Learning is one of the best investments, with which not only the pupils and students win, but also the whole country, stated András Tállai. Discounted student and training loans, in addition to directly helping those involved, also indirectly contribute to the further improvement of the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy, added the state secretary.
