In Lyon, 25 young Hungarians competed in 21 professions, won 1 gold medal, 2 bronze medals, and 18 won medals of excellence. It is a matter of pride that Hungary finished in tenth place out of about 70 countries based on the overall results.

This year's WorldSkills world competition, which took place on September 10-15, ended with a Hungarian gold medal. were held in Lyon, France, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) informed MTI on Monday.

According to the announcement, at the WorldSkills competition

Web developer Olivér Mrakovics won a gold medal, IT system operator Zsolt Koncsik and software developer Stefán Kornél won a bronze medal, and 18 Hungarian competitors received excellence medals.

The chamber explains: Hungary has been a member of WorldSkills International since 2006, and WorldSkills Europe since 2007, of which MKIK has been a Hungarian member organization since 2011.

MKIK organizes the participation in the WorldSkills and EuroSkills international professional competitions within the framework of the WorldSkills Hungary Program renewed in 2020.

According to the announcement of the MKIK, as part of the preparation for the 2024 world competition, the chamber provided 120 days of subsidized professional training for two years to the competitors selected in the national selection competitions, so they had the opportunity to compete in foreign selection competitions and international professional competitions.

The Hungarian competitors went to China, Canada and several European countries, where they represented the country in a dignified manner, usually finishing in the first place.

1,383 registered competitors from 69 countries took part in the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 competition, and experts came from two more countries. The professional competition was held in 59 official competitions plus 3 demonstration professions.

The Hungarians were represented in 21 professions by 25 competitors, 21 experts, 3 team leaders, one official delegate, one technical delegate, and one technical assistant, MKIK announced.
