The Slovak opposition was totally mad at Robert Fico, his predecessor called him a traitorous ferret. Bring you political culture…

The interview of the Slovak prime minister, which he gave to the Russian state television, caused enormous indignation among European politicians. According to some, Fico is a threat to Europe, while others drew parallels with the Hungarian Prime Minister.

Former Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovics did not spare Robert Fico, because his successor gave an interview on Russian state television, reports Politico.

What a horrible, treacherous ferret

- wrote Matovics in his social media post.

The current head of the Slovak government was interviewed on the political talk show "60 Minutes" on the state television channel Rossija-1, where no EU country leader has ever appeared since the outbreak of the war.

In the program, Robert Fico criticized, among other things, the Slovak opposition, and expressed his agreement with the Kremlin that the West, which supports Ukraine, is responsible for the war. According to him, the sanctions against Russia are ineffective and he is ready to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The European Union tells the Ukrainians: "here are your weapons, here are your money, fight, just don't bother us, we don't want anything to do with this war anymore"

Fico stated during the conversation. He added that he plans to travel to Moscow next year to take part in the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.

The Slovak Prime Minister's interview did not only blow the fuse for Igor Matovics, critical words came from many parts of Europe.

"Slovak Prime Minister Fico gave an interview to Russian propagandist Olga Skabeyeva. Let me remind you that Skabeeva called for the occupation of Ukraine, the killing of Ukrainians and the incitement of hatred against Ukraine. Fico should feel free to move to Moscow if he loves Russia so much"

- Ukrainian parliamentarian Oleksiy Goncharenko wrote on X.

Nigel Baker, Britain's ambassador to Slovakia, called it regrettable that Fico agreed to the interview. According to Danuse Nerudová, the Czech representative of the European People's Party, with this performance, Fico confirmed that he "poses a threat to the security of Europe".

Even Viktor Orbán would not dare to do this

- said Juraj Krúpa, representative of the Slovak opposition Freedom and Solidarity party, who described the interview as unprecedented.
