The list of shelters also includes metro stations, parking lots, public buildings and privately owned properties. "In Germany, they have started a census of bunkers and fortified buildings that could serve as shelters in the event of a war, in addition to developing a phone application," Die Welt reported. Based on the German Ministry of the Interior, the newspaper wrote: underground metro stations, underground parking garages and public buildings are given priority. Berlin also encourages residents to set up shelters in their own properties in basements or garages.
There used to be 2,000 shelters in Germany, but now there are 580, and most of them were built during the Second World War or the Cold War, and they can accommodate barely 480,000 people out of a population of 83 million.
Europe is clearly preparing for war.
The experts agree on this, as the Swedes, Finns and Norwegians, among others, have recently issued information to the population on what to do in the event of a war. And NATO recommends European businesses to prepare for a war as quickly as possible. The chairman of the organization's military committee urges that companies transform their production and sales capacity in preparation for a conflict.
Rob Bauer also admitted to Reuters that NATO is already discussing pre-emptive strikes against Russia in the event of a conflict with Moscow.
NATO will strengthen the military industry in Ukraine, because the war is getting worse and worse, and Ukraine must be in a position of strength, the German defense minister said. Boris Pistorius highlighted: the source is provided from the interests of the frozen Russian assets, because the war is no longer a regional conflict. "We will continue to support the Ukrainian military industry, as it makes war material available to the Ukrainian army faster. We will further expand cooperation in all areas," said the German Minister of Defense.
The defense ministers of France, Britain, Poland and Italy also took part in the meeting in Berlin. British Defense Minister John Healey spoke about the need to speed up European arms production. "We are increasing European defense spending. We are connecting our defense industry more closely and we want to ensure that the UK is an integral part of the European defense industry,” Healey said.
According to Admiral Pierre Vandier, Europe puts too many obstacles in front of arms factories, which slows down production and delivery. The French sailor, who is one of NATO's senior officers, told Politico that there is a need to change, and even at the cost of reducing social benefits, more money must be allocated to armaments, because Europe is technologically and logistically behind, it was said on M1 .
