The Metropolitan Municipality has been operating against the law for months, a deputy mayor was not elected even at the request of the government office, so the government office is going to court, Mayor Sára Botond, head of the Budapest City Government Office, said on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

Sára Botond said in a video uploaded to her social media page: despite the call from the government office, there is still no deputy for Gergely Karácsony.

If the mayor and the assembly could not solve this seemingly simple task, then what will happen to the budget,

which already shows that if it is adopted in this form on Wednesday, it will be against the law, he said.

He added that Gergely Karácsony no longer disputes that Budapest is on the verge of bankruptcy and that its viability is in danger.

The mayor emphasized that they will go to court because of the deputy mayor in order to restore the legal operation, since the deadline set by the government office has passed without result.

"Regarding the budget, we will see what the general assembly comes up with on Wednesday. We will take all the necessary measures to ensure that the operation of Budapest is not jeopardized, as the comfort and safety of the citizens of Budapest is the most important thing for us, therefore we will take all the necessary steps for safe operation, because for us Budapest comes first"

he highlighted.
