The people of Europe have moved towards peace, but Europe's leaders are still on the side of war - Viktor Orbán said on Kossuth radio Good morning, Hungary! in his show. The prime minister also pointed out that since the war is taking place in the neighboring country, the security of the Hungarian people is also at risk.

- Since we haven't met (the last prime minister's radio interview was on March 10 - ed.), since then there has been an EU summit where the EU heads of government were there. So I don't just see things with my own eyes. There is no doubt that the war is getting bloodier and more brutal, Viktor Orbán said.

The prime minister added: the idea that we take for granted, that a war is becoming more and more brutal, is to force people to stand still.

As he said, he did not see this in Brussels. The number of countries and leaders supporting peace did not increase, he noted.

He pointed out that the people of Europe have moved in the direction of peace, because as the number of victims increases, people turn towards peace, but the leaders of Europe are still on the side of war.

We are close to whether some kind of peacekeeping troops can be sent to Ukraine, he stated.

The war is in our neighborhood, and it is worrying and dangerous for the Hungarian people. As events point in the direction of the expansion of the conflict, the threat continues to grow, as does the scale of the armed conflict. Viktor Orbán said that they are deciding to deploy more and more destructive weapons and that the West is placing more and more modern equipment in the hands of Ukraine.

If this continues, we may arrive at the Third World War, which is a real danger at this moment, he said. According to the prime minister, the question is how the Hungarian army can get ammunition quickly and cheaply. In this way, the joint procurement of ammunition helps to supply the Hungarian army cheaper and better.

- People tend to let everyone handle their own affairs, and what people on another continent think about our country, about the war, about a European matter is of no great importance. However, the situation is different now, as the conflict could escalate into a world war and then it will affect everyone, explained the Prime Minister.

As he said, the position supporting the war in Western Europe is morally based.

They think it's right to support Ukraine, but the world says it's not true. This is important to them, but the question of world war or world peace is at stake here. These are two different aspects, it must be accepted that ours is at least as important a moral issue as theirs, the Prime Minister believes.

In our opinion, it is necessary to support peace on a moral basis. Our position belongs to the minority in Europe, but to the majority in the world, he added .

They want to force us into war. Direct and indirect blackmails and pressures are commonplace, the Prime Minister noted. Viktor Orbán emphasized that the national parliaments cannot be bypassed in this issue, which is why the pro-peace resolution on which the Parliament is voting today is important.

He emphasized that the Hungarian position is that there should be a ceasefire, and if there is a ceasefire, then there is a chance that the framework of the peace negotiations will be devised. "The breakthrough would be a ceasefire, this is the goal of Hungarian foreign policy," he added. The Prime Minister said that the left-wing pro-war resolution proposal would have been a good opportunity for them to give up their pro-war position and join the peace camp. "I didn't see any signs in the debate that they did that, we'll see how they vote today," he recorded.

Viktor Orbán pointed out that we expect two things from the Union:

To have lasting peace and to maintain the level of prosperity achieved.

In comparison, the sanctions are ruining the European economy. In other words, the meaning of the Union is being questioned in people's minds, because it gave up peace and prosperity, i.e. both goals. -Everyone feels that if Europe continues to weaken, it may have lasting dangers regardless of the war. We need to think about how we can prevent these mistakes and how we can correct the wrong decisions of the Union.

There are conflicting reports. Whoever speaks confidently about the news of the Russian economy is "painting" himself, Viktor Orbán insisted. According to him, assessing the impact of sanctions is a complicated task, and it takes years. - I would be careful in judging the Russian economy. The starting point is that after 2015, the Union introduced sanctions against Russia, and then in 3 years the country built up its food economy, he noted.

The Prime Minister underlined that it is a fatal mistake to question a country's ability to adapt.

In domestic affairs, he said: the government's goal is to reduce inflation to single digits by the end of the year, Viktor Orbán stated. As he said, there are recipes for this, and the work has been done.

He emphasized that the first signs that inflation is decreasing have appeared. - In the background, consumer protection and the competition office are working with great strength. We do not allow inflationary speculation to develop and extra profit to be made - he draws attention. The prime minister said that as long as inflation is high, the price caps will remain, but they will be removed over time as inflation decreases.

The Prime Minister last gave a radio interview on March 10. He warned then: the world has never been so close to a local war becoming a world war.
