The Patriots would bring the case of the funds due to Hungary back to the European Parliament.
The right-wing Italian party League led by Matteo Salvini considers the withdrawal of funds in Hungary a shameful attack on law, freedom, solidarity and democracy, which has announced that it intends to bring the matter before the European Parliament again.
The League was one of the first to join the Patriots for Europe faction last summer.
The party's European Parliament faction leader, Paolo Borchia, emphasized in a separate statement that they support Hungary's case being brought back to the European Parliament by the Patriots.
"The withdrawal of funds is a mere objection to Budapest (...) we are convinced that this is nothing more than another tool against the democratically elected (Hungarian) government with a large majority, which is not liked by the European elites. The League stands by Orbán," stated Paolo Borchia.
According to the previous statement of the spokesperson of the European Commission, Hungary will lose 1.04 billion euros of EU funds within the framework of the rule of law mechanism.
János Bóka, the minister responsible for European Union affairs, emphasized on his social media page that the Hungarian government has fulfilled all the conditions for access to EU funds.
"Brussels wants to take away the resources that belong to Hungary and the Hungarian people for political reasons.
But as long as Hungary has a national and sovereign government, it will not lose a single euro cent. The Hungarian government has already obtained more than 12 billion euros in EU funds after a hard fight. Hungary is at the forefront of the member states in its use. In order to obtain the remaining funds, Hungary will use all legal and political means," wrote János Bóka.
