This week, the summary of crimes, violence and vandalism (vandalism) for the year 2019 was published on the EUROSTAT website. As can be seen in the graph above, the number of cases relative to the population of the respective countries ranges from 2.7 (in Croatia) to 20.2 percent (in Bulgaria). The EU average is around 11 percent, which is less than what was measured in 2013 (14.1).

It has not changed that most of the crimes were committed in cities. Their number was exactly three times more than in the countryside. In terms of the EU average, the poor reported more crimes committed in their circle (13.4 percent) than people with a stable financial background (10.6 percent).

In Hungary, the fourth lowest number of crimes, violence and vandalism was reported in the entire Union. The domestic 5.3 percent is about half of the EU average.
In our country, crime in 2019 was lower in only three countries. In addition to the already mentioned Croatia, in Lithuania and Poland. Apart from Bulgaria, Greece, the Netherlands and France were in the worst position that year.
