Minister of Agriculture István Nagy draws attention to the preservation of biological diversity by placing artificial swallows' nests in a video uploaded to his social media page.

The head of the ministry also spoke about the fact that in the past decade, the stock has halved , which was caused by the transformation of habitats, the significant reduction of the food base, climate change and the destruction of nests. Thus, a total of at least 2 million kilograms of pests and disease-spreading insects remain in our environment every year.

István Nagy emphasized that the protection of swallows is not only a legal obligation, but also our common interest , as they contribute to reducing the number of pests. That is why 10 barn swallow nests and 4 barn swallow nests were placed on the roof of the Ministry of Agriculture. A so-called swallow diaper was also installed on the wall of the building, which catches the bird excrement that falls out of the barn swallow's nest.
