The station line was built on the Kálvária hill in Gyula, and was designed by József Kiss, Károly Kós Award-winning retired senior designer. We prepare for Good Friday, the day of mourning for the death of the Saviour, with a short excerpt of his writing about the history of the Ways of the Cross and epidemics.
Every year, the Holy Father sends a message to the Catholic faithful at the beginning of Lent. The theme of his Lenten message in 2021 is: "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem..." (Mt 20:18).
Pope Francis also announced the other day that he will come to the Hungarians at the International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest. Let us wait again, for he will come to us again, as he so beautifully said; not unknown, because he already met us in Transylvania...
... Since many people could not visit Jesus' Stations of the Cross in Jerusalem, the Holy See allowed the construction of the Calvaries, as if displaying the location of the Jerusalem Sacrifice of the Cross. Calvaries are typical baroque buildings, with 14 stations that have been formed over time. The resurrection of Christ is not part of the official Stations of the Cross. ...( Christ ) ...first he meets his Holy Mother, then Simon of Cyrene helps carry his cross, then Veronika hands Jesus a cloth, and Jesus speaks to the weeping women. Stood the Mother pregnant with pain"...
...We are waiting for the Procession of the Cross and then the Feast of the Resurrection - still online. We look forward to the usual holidays of our everyday life, while we remember and think with prayer and respect about epidemics, country builders, recoveries and healers.
worth looking at the 3D circular panorama , which is also available on the city's website.
