Support for persecuted Christians does not mean discrimination for other persecuted people in the world - stressed Zsolt Németh (Fidesz), chairman of the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, to MTI after the committee's meeting.

At the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament, Tristan Azbej, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for helping persecuted Christians and implementing the Hungary Helps Program, reported on their activities last year. In this regard, Zsolt Németh said: the Hungarian government was the first in the world to undertake to help persecuted Christians in its program, but it also supports other persecuted religious and ethnic groups.

The politician from the governing party emphasized the humanitarian efforts of the Hungarian government: this is not participation in some kind of multilateral cooperation, but real, direct help to those in need. Its goal is to ensure that those affected can prosper in their homeland. Do not leave your home or, if you are forced to do so, return home as soon as possible.

This kind of help also reduces the direct threat of illegal migration to other countries, added Zsolt Németh.

Praising the government's international humanitarian aid, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament said that the Hungary Helps Program had more than four hundred thousand direct beneficiaries worldwide last year.
