An unmistakable sign of the beginning of the campaign period is that the opposition and the press supporting them began to worry spectacularly about the situation of the Gypsies. Although the left's policy on gypsies has shown just as much effectiveness as their work on health care, the gypsy party play is brought up again and again, reports kontra.hu .
Last summer, the most repulsive character of Hungarian public life even tried to adopt the slogan Roma Lives Matter in Hungary, following the example of BLM. The attempt resulted in only a few Facebook posts, as domestic conditions are not conducive to this type of incitement. For now. Regardless of the efforts in this direction, however, some opposition groups recently managed to create confusion among the Roma, even though the Roma were not the primary target group. They managed to cause more damage than originally planned.
The author of kontra.hu tried to find out in several settlements inhabited by gypsies whether the gypsies have access to the vaccine against the coronavirus. The reason for the report was that the opposition media gave the dramatic reports that the coronavirus infection decimated the inhabitants of the gypsy settlements. On the spot, it soon became clear that the dramatic images did not cover the reality, and that behind the concern for the Gypsies was a well-considered political calculation. Of course, it would be a lie to say that there is no reason for increased attention regarding the access of gypsies to vaccination, however, the root of the problems should not be sought where the professional worriers point.
It is not that there is a lack of vaccine, it is not that the organization of the vaccination is stuck, it is not the registration that causes the problem, but the fake news coming from the direction of the opposition parties and their press endangers the success of vaccinating the Gypsies. The lesson for the leaders of the minority municipalities is to succeed in convincing the Roma that they have nothing to fear from vaccines.
Fake news and bullying also work effectively among the Roma, they watch the same TV channels, read online newspapers, and are just as addicted to Facebook.
In Roma groups and on the pages of some gypsy opinion leaders, we can see the video of the fake Italian doctor and the articles that warn readers that it is better to be careful with Eastern vaccines, because the person who administers them takes a serious risk.
It may have been a coincidence that texts identical to the content of the articles could also be read in the Facebook posts of the opposition parties, which circulated the entire Hungarian Internet in the form of paid advertisements. These contents also reached the Gypsy people, many of whom believed that Eastern vaccines were extremely dangerous. They didn't know that vaccine procurement had become part of political games in Hungary.
Their most common argument against vaccination is that the TV, the radio, the newspaper, or some politician said that the vaccine should not be trusted.
If it had been up to the opposition, half of the available vaccine quantity would never have arrived in Hungary. In this case, the gypsies would not have to worry about vaccines either, since they would hardly have enough time to vaccinate the elderly and the chronically ill.
However, the government decided to go separate ways and obtain the required amount of vaccine. Thus, both Roma and non-Roma get enough. Of course, Orbán and his gang did all this out of political calculation. A journalist from one of the opposition newspapers put it aptly when he accused the government of not even shying away from defeating the virus in order to retain power.
