Fidesz members of the European Parliament sent a letter to the European Commission because, according to their opinion, the committee appointed Gábor Magyar a "virtuous left-wing political activist" as the contact person for the delegation preparing this year's rule of law report on Hungary, said Tamás Deutsch, head of the Fidesz-KDNP European Parliament delegation. on Wednesday.

In his video statement sent to our newspaper, the politician reminded us: the European Commission promised objectivity in connection with the 2020 rule of law report, but instead a "political pamphlet" was created, which echoed the slanders of the European and Hungarian left against Hungary.

According to Tamás Deutsch, "there was a big scandal" due to political bias and the use of double standards, and after that the committee promised that this year the rule of law reports would be prepared independently, impartially, without biases and prejudices, in the framework of a fair procedure.

, Gábor Magyar, an employee of one of the European Commission's directorates-general, has been appointed as the contact person for the delegation preparing this year's rule of law report on Hungary

"The problem with Gábor Magyar is not that he is the son of the well-known left-wing lawyer and politician György Magyar. The appointment is scandalous because Gábor Magyar is not an independent EU official, but in reality is an agitated left-wing political activist," assessed Tamás Deutsch.

He drew attention to:

In an interview, Gábor Magyar called Hungary a regime that no longer meets the requirements of a democratic state that respects human rights.

In addition, the head of the delegation continued, Gábor Magyar, "in accordance with the well-known left-wing slanders", explained that as a result of the efforts aimed at dismantling the constitutionality, the level of fundamental rights protection has also decreased, and he also added that the centralized political power essentially does what it wants.

"Gábor Magyar is a virtuoso left-wing political activist who has made biased statements that often exceed the slanders of Ferenc Gyurcsány and Mrs Gyurcsány," declared Tamás Deutsch.

"Due to his obvious bias, the Commission must recall Gábor Magyar immediately and publicly guarantee an unbiased procedure!" - declared the head of the Fidesz EP representative group.
