On Friday, the World Health Organization (WHO) approved the emergency use of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine developed against the coronavirus, it was announced in Geneva, at the headquarters of the organization.

For the first time, the WHO approved the use of a vaccine developed by a non-Western pharmaceutical company against the coronavirus.

The Sinopharm vaccine has already been administered to hundreds of millions of people in China and other parts of the world in recent weeks.

The WHO approval is a signal to the national health authorities regarding the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, and this step also allows the Sinopharm vaccine to be used in the COVAX program established for the equitable distribution of vaccinations.
