Viktor Orbán's usual morning radio interview with Kossuth was almost not over yet, when the extracted and interestingly composed parts of what was said there immediately appeared in the Slovak press, the Slovak state news agency shouting about the strong Hungarian military.
The TA SR state news agency published its material at 09:31 in the morning, which is difficult to interpret as anything other than the usual Slovak fear-mongering towards Hungary and the Hungarians. The reason for this this time was Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's words regarding the development of military forces, reports korkep.sk .
The coverage was originally structured in such a way that Orbán's words were inserted in such a way that, in its title, preface, and closing sentence, he emphasizes three times that Hungary is the most populous country in the Carpathian Basin, which strives to have the strongest army. This also strengthened the phobia of Slovaks towards Hungarians.
"We are the most populous country in the Carpathian basin, so we also need the strongest army," said Viktor Orbán.
NATO will not protect us, he added. They will only help if they see us doing something to protect ourselves. NATO membership does not absolve Hungary of its obligation to have its own army, the prime minister emphasized, according to TA SR.
On the occasion of today's national defense day, the prime minister said in the interview that there may not be a war for decades, but the national defenders will be the first to take their skins to the market.
"Since our neighbors have started to arm themselves, we have to do the same. We are the most populous country in the Carpathian Basin, so we also need the strongest army," Orbán concluded the conversation.
