A 600-square-meter molino was displayed on the building of the Marzek Kner printing house in Békéscsaba, which depicts Mihály Munkácsy relaxing in his Paris salon and a sketch of one of his famous paintings. The aim of the city is to connect the names of Munkácsy and Békéscsaba.

The molino was displayed to indicate that Békéscsaba is not only the capital of sausages, but also the city of Munkácsy, Mayor Péter Szarvas wrote on his social media page. He recalled that the painter prince spent his childhood years here and created his first oil painting here. Even while living in Paris, he regularly returned to the stormy city.

BÉKÉCSABA HAS ALWAYS PAID A LOT OF ATTENTION TO PRESERVING MUNKÁCSY'S LEGACY.

Today, a square, street, museum, and bridge preserve his name, and the Munkácsy quarter is also being prepared in the county seat of Békés, added the city manager. After settling in Paris, Mihály Munkácsy welcomed Hungarian painting students in his studio. In 1882, he founded a prize bearing his name for them. He was a generous patron, the amount of the scholarship for one year was six thousand francs. In 1884, János Temple (Hans Temple) won the award, who was able to continue his studies in Paris with the help of the scholarship. He was the master's student for two years.

He painted several portraits of Munkácsy, one of his best-known works, Mihály Munkácsy's Studio, depicts the master in front of Christ before Pilate. The work is a picture within a picture, which is why this giant molino was put on display - they wrote in the announcement of the municipality, adding that in order to pass on the painting, the owner v. Art collector Imre Pákh also contributed.

MARZEK KNER PACKAGING KFT WILL BE 50 YEARS OLD THIS YEAR UNTIL NOVEMBER. IT CAN BE VIEWED IN THEIR BUILDING WITH THE EXPRESS RECOMMENDATION AND CONSENT OF THE MARZEK FAMILY.

During the Munkácsy quarter project in Békéscsaba, the building and surroundings of the Munkácsy Memorial House will be renovated, the puppet theater will move to a renovated building with a new building wing, the permanent exhibition of the Mihály Munkácsy Museum will be renewed, and public sculptures, information points and visual elements evoking Munkácsy and his art emphasize that "Békéscsaba The city of Munkácsy," reads the announcement.
