Yesterday, the exhibition on the history of the order was opened in the Hungarian National Museum, in which the 900-year history, intellectual, spiritual, cultural and scientific heritage of the Hungarian Premontre order is presented.

The order of canons in Premontre was founded in 1121 by Saint Norbert. Members of the order have been present in Hungary almost since its foundation. In recent centuries, the people of Premontre have been part of and shapers of Hungarian society, religious life, art and science. The history of the order is presented at the exhibition organized on the occasion of the anniversary, and an overview of the order's spirituality, foundation, past and present in Hungary is provided. In addition to the works and documents preserved in the abbeys and convents of the order in Hungary today, the nine-hundred-year history of the Premontreis in Hungary is brought to life through numerous artefacts borrowed from domestic and foreign collections.

The exhibition will primarily feature never-before-seen works, liturgical objects, documents and photographs from the collections of the Gödöllő Premontre Abbey and Archives, the Csornai Premontre Abbey and Archives, the Zsámbék Monastery of the Premontre Women's Canon Order, as well as several high schools connected to Premontre. the diverse intellectual and cultural heritage of the Premontre order.

Outstanding among the works presented at the exhibition is János Vaszary's painting of St. Norbert, made in 1897, which was transferred from the Ancient Seminary of Esztergom to the parish church of St. John the Baptist in Zsámbék. The exhibition also presents a number of significant Premontrean codices, and those interested can view the medieval Hungarian glossary kept in the Premontrean Abbey of Schlägl in Austria.

The exhibition, which presents a lot of interesting things, can be viewed at the Hungarian National Museum until September 15, 2021 , in all cases in accordance with the effective rules adopted to curb the coronavirus epidemic.
