An agreement was reached that the National Vaccine Factory currently under construction in Hungary will also be suitable for the production of the Chinese vaccine against the coronavirus, which will be a great strategic advantage for the country, announced Péter Szijjártó in China.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade reported that he held bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Ji, for the 12th time in the last seven years, which shows how much importance the parties attach to the continuous development of their cooperation.

"If anyone had any doubts up to now, then in recent months they have been able to see for themselves how much Hungary has benefited from this strategic cooperation (...) Its success can now be measured in human lives saved," he said.

Sinopharm's entire production technology will be taken over in Hungary, and this is an important advantage, because there will be a continuous demand for vaccines in the world. The minister emphasized that, in addition to health, the success of the economic response is also important, and the two countries are facing significant economic success stories. He mentioned, among other things, that two large Chinese banks will soon appear in Hungary, several Hungarian companies have achieved serious success in the Asian country, and negotiations are currently underway for several large investments in Hungary, for example in the field of electric car production.

Speaking about the relationship between the EU and China, he stated that the government supports initiatives aimed at improving the relationship, instead of "sanctions and hostility", cooperation based on mutual interests and mutual respect is needed. Szijjártó expressed his opinion that "preventing the comprehensive investment agreement is against European interests, the continent should already realize that there is a new reality in the world, and if relations are not improved, the EU will lose a lot".

Finally, he added that China allowed Hungary to establish a new consulate general in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
