The strategy and parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology announced today that from July 1, 2022, license plates consisting of four letters and three numbers will be introduced.
In the ministry's statement, Tamás Schanda added that the transition will take place in an ascending system, and the new format plates will be given to vehicles newly put into circulation starting next summer. The introduction does not mean any additional administrative burden for owners and operators, and does not increase their expenses.
The license plates that can be issued from next July consist of two vowels or two consonants according to the Latin alphabet, followed by two more letters and three digits. They cannot contain accented vowels or double-digit consonants except for dz.
On the signs, next to the coat of arms of Hungary, in the blue field representing the European flag, twelve yellow stars with a white H are visible.
