According to the European Football Association (UEFA) on Friday, there is a contingency plan in case the final of the Euro 2011, which is partly held in Budapest, cannot be held at London's Wembley Stadium.
For the time being, the British government has not withdrawn the entry restrictions ordered due to the coronavirus epidemic, as well as the ten-day mandatory quarantine, so the organizers of the continental tournament have initiated negotiations with the leaders of the island nation.
The British daily The Times wrote on Friday that UEFA is considering Budapest as an alternative venue for the final, if the restrictions remain in place and fans from abroad cannot enter London's Wembley Stadium. According to the original plans, the two semi-finals of the European Championship and the final would be held in the English capital.
"We always have a contingency plan, but for now we are confident that London will be able to host the matches that will take place in the last week of the European Championship," UEFA wrote in a statement.
Budapest originally received the right to host three group matches and one round of 16, while in London three group matches took place and will take place before the final, and will host two more round of 16 matches.
