Left-wing parties are once again campaigning against Eastern vaccines. Several of their politicians claim that the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine does not produce a sufficient amount of antibodies in the majority of the elderly. However, epidemiologists have confirmed several times that the decrease in the antibody level does not mean a decrease in immunity. The memory cells activate the body's defenses if necessary, it was said in the M1 News.
"Many of our compatriots vaccinated with the Chinese vaccine are not protected against the new variant of the coronavirus despite the vaccination," Gergely Karácsony stated this as a fact on his social media page.
The mayor made two comments in addition to his medical assessment. According to one, the government is responsible for the situation, and in the other, he promised: within days, the capital will provide free antibody tests to Budapest residents over the age of 60.
His party partner, Tímea Szabó, who also graduated with a degree in communication, also very strongly attacked the Sinopharm vaccine and demanded a repeat vaccination from the government. Referring to the tests of a company, he claimed that many people in the older age group do not have detectable levels of antibodies even after the administration of the vaccine.
DK's Zoltán Varga came up with the exact same demands an hour later.
For months, the left tried to create uncertainty about Eastern vaccines, including China's Sinopharm. In January, a proposal for a resolution was also submitted, in which they demanded a ban on Eastern vaccines. Even former Prime Minister Péter Medgyessy said this.
"The DK made a mistake by starting to say that we should not accept the Chinese vaccine, nor the Russian one, until it has a European Union certificate," said Péter Medgyessy.
" Vaccination is the only solution to prevent infection " – this has been emphasized several times by specialists, including the rector of Semmelweis University. Béla Merkely previously told M1:
the clinical effectiveness of the two vaccines against severe disease is 100 percent, and it is unnecessary to test the antibody level."
"It never occurred to us to measure the antibody level every month or week after the flu shot or the measles shot, as this has a life of its own. At first, it rises a little after the vaccination, then it slowly decreases, but this does not mean that our immunity decreases. This means that the blood does not contain the antibody, but it does contain memory cells. Memory cells that trigger antibody or cellular immunity, that's what's important," said the rector.
The World Health Organization, WHO, approved the emergency use of China's Sinopharm in May.
After the decision, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told left-wing politicians to be ashamed of themselves. He said: people died because of their months-long campaign. The Sinopharm vaccine has already been administered to hundreds of millions of people around the world, and about one million people have received it in Hungary.
