In four years, every city with county status will have a four-lane road connection, by the middle of the decade it will be possible to reach 11 border stations on expressways, compared to 3 in 2010

The government is carrying out unprecedented developments on the domestic road network at an extraordinary pace, the state secretary responsible for transport policy of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology announced at Nagynyárád in Baranya.

László Mosóczi, at the laying of the foundation stone for the new 20-kilometer section of the M6 highway between Bóly and Ivándárda, to be built at the beginning of 2024 with a net budget of 88.7 billion forints, emphasized that it is a priority policy aspiration, which also lays the foundation for economic revitalization, that the cities with county rights and the national border can also be reached by expressways .

In four years, every city with county status will have a four-lane road connection, by the middle of the decade it will be possible to reach 11 border stations on expressways compared to 3 in 2010, he added.

According to the state secretary, these developments "bring us closer" to the realization of the plan that

A four-lane road should be accessible from any settlement in Hungary within 30 minutes.

" Five years ago, this expectation was met for half of the settlements and three-quarters of the population, but by 2025 it will be true for three-quarters of domestic settlements and nine out of ten Hungarians that they are within half an hour of a four-lane road," he stated .

He believed that the extent of the expressway network in Hungary increasingly meets the expectations of people and the needs of businesses, which is important because the quality of public roads fundamentally affects the economic development of the country and some of its regions and cities, as well as the quality of life of families.

László Mosóczi pointed out that the road transport development plans are summarized by the road program launched in 2016, which currently has a budget of HUF 3,600 billion.

Last December, the government decided to implement four projects and prepare more than seventy. HUF 430 billion will be allocated in the annual budgets between 2021-2024 for the four implementations - one of which is the Bóly-Ivándárda section of the M6.

The state secretary said about the road section between the Bóly-Ivándárda border that the development will improve traffic conditions in South Baranya and connect the Villány area to the domestic and international expressway network.

With the investment, the Hungarian section of the north-south corridor connecting the Baltic Sea and the Adriatic Sea will be fully developed

he said.

László Mosóczi also spoke about the fact that the highway between Pélmonostor and the national border is also being built in Croatia, so there is a chance that the representatives of Croatia and Hungary will jointly hold the ribbon cutting marking the handover of the road sections.

Zoltán Nyul, Deputy General Manager of Investments of the Nemzeti Infrastructura Fejlsztő Zrt., announced that along the Bóly-Ivándárda highway section, a rest station at Nagynyárád, an inspection station at Ivándárda, and an engineering station at Babarc will be established to meet the 21st century requirements of use and operation.
