magyarhirlap.hu reported that since there are several signs that Ferenc Gyurcsány and his entourage are considering Gergely Karácsony to be the joint prime minister candidate of the left, Századvég examined how Hungarians feel about the opposition coalition and Gergely Karácsony.

As a starting point, it is important to state that voters distrust the left-liberal coalition. The research shows that more than half of the respondents (54 percent) expressed an unfavorable opinion of the left-wing cooperation, while 39 percent of them have a positive opinion of the united opposition.

The picture is further colored by the fact that the rejection of Gergely Karácsony, who cherishes the ambitions of prime minister, is higher than that of the left-wing parties. According to the survey, 57 percent of respondents have an unfavorable view of the Párbeszéd politician, while the proportion of those who sympathize with Kárácson is 37 percent. In other words, the opposition coalition and Gergely Karácsony's popularity index (that is, the difference between favorable and unfavorable response rates) are also in the negative range, but the mayor is more unpopular (minus 20 percent) than the united left-wing opposition (minus 15 percent).

The background of this phenomenon is assumed to be that Gergely Karácsony's performance as city manager did not meet the expectations, and as a result, the majority of respondents formed an unfavorable opinion of the mayor.
