Mikháza, a settlement with a long history in Maros county, will host the second free university of the House of Traditions on August 8.

After last year's omission, the organizers are including the Transylvanian House of Traditions Foundation and strategic civil partners, as well as Romanian professional ensembles, in the event.

The Felvidék Ma news portal requested information about the details from Sándor Ildiko, head of the Institute's Folk Art Methodology Workshop.

"This year's Mikház program is affected by the epidemic situation, since at the beginning of the organization we could only think about one-day events, so we scheduled the event - with a moderate but rich program - for August 8. At the Csűrszínház, we present methods of work that are not only interesting in their content, but also reusable for a wider audience. Here I can mention as examples the digital museum pedagogy and the virtually available version of the National Folk Art Exhibition, or the popular Folkkocsma quiz. The latter is an excellent game, but it also gives an idea for a new form of promotion. As the evening's main program, the audience can enjoy the performance of the Maros Artistic Ensemble: Közös kincs. For those arriving with children, we can offer craft activities and a children's dance hall.

In parallel with the large program, we offer a very intensive professional program for a narrower circle, such as the professionals of the Transylvanian Heritage Foundation, the Hungarian and Carpathian Basin Networks, so that they can use the experience gained there in their later work. The palette is very wide, I would highlight cultural marketing, event organization, and conducting tours, but the participants can get valuable information about special areas of folk art activity, such as judging and certification.

We would like the free university to develop into an important professional forum, so we are expecting professionals from the entire Carpathian basin, and leaders and teachers of groups dealing with folk dance and music education, as well as individuals actively interested in folk traditions, will come from various parts of Transylvania."
