Due to the crime of vandalism, the police initiated criminal proceedings in the case of buildings sprayed with paint spray in the historic center of Bratislava. An unknown perpetrator scrawled the words "trans is beauty", "queer power", "god is trans", "queer revolution is coming" on the walls of the buildings. The perpetrator can be sentenced to three to eight years in prison, Michal Szeiff, spokesman for the Bratislava District Police Headquarters, informed the TASR news agency.
According to the police, they are currently investigating how much damage the vandal caused by disfiguring the facades of several buildings. Inscriptions written in red paint appeared mainly on church buildings , for example on the monastery church of the Merciful Brothers, on the buildings of the Orsolyite Order, the Franciscans, the Capuchins and the Jesuits.
"We are currently analyzing the footage of the surveillance camera system, with the help of which we can find the culprit," the Bratislava city police informed the TASR news agency.
The management of the Old Town district condemned the vandalism. "Under no circumstances can one agree with such destruction. In addition to the fact that such scribbles spoil the cityscape, the owners of the scribbled buildings suffered financial damage , and they are charged with the costs of cleaning the walls," said the municipality.
Tibor Hajdu , director of the archbishop's office, told TASR that it is unfortunate what happened, the culprit caused significant financial damage. “It will be difficult and very laborious work to clear the buildings,” he said.
The Hungarian Community Party responded to the incident in a statement:
"The MKP strongly condemns the vandalism of churches and church buildings in Bratislava. He rejects the idealism of the inscriptions, but above all the violent form of conveying the messages. MKP respects the sexual orientation of all adult citizens, however, in order to preserve social peace and normality, it does not support the violent dissemination of any sexual propaganda. "
