The police and soldiers took action against 616 border violators from Friday morning to Sunday, the National Police Headquarters informed MTI on Monday.

According to the statistics on the police website, on Friday, 184 on Saturday, and 165 on Sunday, 216 foreigners illegally staying in the country were arrested and escorted through the temporary security border by soldiers and police. In addition, 51 people were arrested on the Romanian, Croatian and Ukrainian border sections, and immigration police proceedings were initiated against them.
In the past week, 1,403 border violators were arrested and escorted back across the country. In the previous week - from July 26 to August 2 - the number of people detained was 1,039. In the past week, 69 people were arrested on the Romanian, Croatian and Ukrainian border sections. Proceedings were initiated against 27 suspects for human trafficking, according to the police summary.
