Magyar Posta is not planning to close post offices, there is currently no reorganization at the company that would reduce the number of post offices, the company announced in a statement to MTI on Monday.

Magyar Posta Zrt. responded to Róbert Dudás, Jobbik's vice-president's statement, after the politician spoke about the reorganization involving the closure of eight hundred post offices in small towns at his press conference on Monday. In a statement, the company denied that it was planning mass post office closures, calling it an unfounded rumor.

"Magyar Posta is not planning to close the post office, and postal services are widely available nationwide," they stressed.

In their information, they reminded us that according to current legislation, Magyar Posta is obliged to operate a permanent post office in every settlement with over 1,000 inhabitants. The company not only complies with this legislation, but also operates post offices across the country well beyond it, they stated.

It was noted: in some cases, it may be necessary to change the availability or operation of a post office against Magyar Posta's intentions, in such cases it always notifies the relevant local government in time and discusses possible solutions, taking into account the needs of the public.
