"The Prime Minister should not evaluate Viktor Orbán  told Nemzeti Sport – Because this is not his job, this is the task of the sports federations and the Olympic Committee. But the Prime Minister is also Hungarian, and everyone is Hungarian. The taxi driver, the hairdresser, the nuclear scientist, the prime minister too. A Hungarian person can never get away with having an opinion about Olympic participation. I have it too. with National Sport the Prime Minister talked about the Olympics, why such a world competition is important, the issue of organizing the Hungarian Olympics and its role in the sports world . And about the fact that the Olympics can only be organized in national unity.

The editor-in-chief of Nemzeti Sport asked Viktor Orbán.

Is the Olympics important, and if so, why is it important for humanity and for Hungarians? asked György Szöllősi.

"When there is no war, nations still want to compare their talents and strength, this temptation will never disappear from humanity. The great, peaceful, but equally ruthless form of this is the Olympics. Science, sport and culture are the mediums where the competitive instincts of nations manifest themselves in times of peace. In every nation there is a conviction that it represents something unique, which no one else does, and which is most spectacularly embodied in champions, winners

the Prime Minister answered the question.

He later added: After all, what can a country of ten million add to humanity? In the economy, our possibilities are limited, but in talent the limit is the starry sky, it is not the number, but the quality that counts, as well as competitiveness, determination, and courage. Hungarians are one of the most competitive nations in the world. This is the case in the economy and science as well, but it shows itself most spectacularly in sports, especially in the Olympics. Hungarian competitiveness and the Olympics are close to each other in the minds of Hungarian people.

The traditional role of sport was also discussed in the conversation.

What do you think, will the traditional role and power of sport remain in the coming decades? the question was asked.

We live in a world where respect for tradition and proven things is weakening. This is shown by the world of the Internet, globalism, which is constantly trying to push nations into the background, and which we also see signs of in sports. There's the whole LGBTQ craze, the issue of biological sex, the unisex world, and so on. They call into question everything that has brought the world to this point for two thousand years. There is a constant temptation that some beautiful new world is coming that is radically different from the one we have lived in so far. And it reaches our children too. And sport is still the idea of protecting the old, many thousands of years old, proven things - replied the Prime Minister.

The issue of organizing the Hungarian Olympics was also raised in the report.

Recently, however, it became clear that we cannot even hope for an Olympics in Budapest in 2032, because then Brisbane, Australia, will be the host. Has the opportunity finally slipped away? asked the editor-in-chief of Nemzeti Sport.

Olympics can only be organized in national unity. Hungary had a historic opportunity when it could have obtained the right to organize the Olympics, but we were not able to show the necessary national unity. Of course, there is also a political reason for this, because there were those who hoped for political gain from saying no, and saying no to a lot of people, to the Olympics. But the truth is that the opportunity came a little early, because the nation was not yet united in its belief that Hungary is a country that is able to organize the Olympics not by burdening itself economically, but by benefiting enormously from an Olympics. Four years have passed since then, and now the number of Hungarians who see that the hotel and road developments necessary for the Olympics have taken place regardless of the Olympics is much larger. We didn't have to make improvements because of the Olympics, our development required this regardless of the Olympics, so we would rather be ready for an Olympics today - replied Viktor Orbán.

He also said that

In 2017, we would have had a great chance to win, but today we have no chance to win, even though we would be much more ready in 2021 than we were in 2017. That ship has now gone – for now.
