Blokád , which is produced with the support of the National Film Institute, presents the person and life story of Hungary's first freely elected prime minister, József Antall

The script of the film is written by Norbert Köbli, the director is Ádám Tősér, the producer is Tamás Lajos. The creators of Blokád are the first to undertake to process József Antall's life and struggle for democracy, starting from the taxi blockade, Hungary's first far-reaching crisis after the regime change.

The work presents Antall's life journey from the revolutionary of 1956 to the first freely elected head of government, and the dramatic days of perhaps the most difficult test of his life, barely half a year after his inauguration.

The film not only gives a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes events, fights and deals, but also into the prime minister's personal life, into the ward where, fresh from surgery, he is faced with the fact that the taxi drivers have put the entire country under blockade due to the drastic increase in gasoline prices.

The National Film Institute voted HUF 1.47 billion in support for the production of Blokád. Filming will begin in October, and the film is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2022.

"Blokád presents a deep human drama. We want to process the relationships and emotions behind politics in a clean, to-the-point style. The film is not only for those who lived through the memorable days of the taxi blockade, but also for those who were born after the regime change."
