As long as there are young people who profess their faith, there is no reason for Hungarians to lose their Christian roots. Written by vasarnap.hu.

On Christmas 2019 - when we had no idea that the much-awaited 2020 International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest would have to be postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic - 52 Hungarian people stood in front of the camera to testify to their faith in God in front of the country and the world on the occasion of the world event. The 17 unpublished parts of the 52-part series will be broadcast from August 20 on Duna television channels. On this occasion, we recall the testimony of the youngest figure skater of the video series, Pepe Berei . Even today, the teenage boy unwaveringly takes the NEK's reputation to European and world figure skating competitions - where he professes his faith again and again with Mel Gibson's

Press chief Zsuffa Tünde said at the start of the series: they were primarily looking for people whose coming to faith and relationship with God could start something in others as witnesses. It was also an important aspect that they should not only speak to public figures, because they believed that the audience could more easily identify with witnesses who are ordinary people in the best possible sense.

One of the first 35 witnesses - among them the youngest - was the figure skating talent Berei Pepe. The teenager, who grew up without a father, said in the recording: "I am a young boy who believes in God, believes that he has a mission. And that I have a goal that I want to achieve".

The boy who grew up in Austria and was a multiple Austrian champion spoke on camera about the role of prayer and thanksgiving in his life. Recalling his late, beloved grandfather, he said: he swore to him that one day he would return home and compete in Hungarian colors. And he promised, Berei Pepe recalls, "that he would lift me up like a snowflake" during competitions and training sessions, and that he would "always support me" from above.

Speaking about the competitions after the season missed due to the coronavirus epidemic and a serious hernia, the figure skater said that no matter how well or how badly they go, "I always glorify God and Jesus".

Berei Pepe emphasized: he knows that if you put enough will and faith in your work, everything is possible.

The young talent also recalled a childhood memory when he got "lost" on the street, accidentally following a strange woman instead of his mother. A man addressed his mother, who by then was desperately looking for him, but only heard his voice calling for her. This man found her and took her back to her mother - but when they were about to thank him, he disappeared. "We didn't find it anywhere, we think it was a guardian angel," he said.

In the meantime, Pepe Berei has recovered, the epidemic situation has subsided, so he can continue his promising career as a figure skater - as he promised his grandfather, in Hungarian colors since 2019. This season, in addition to several other productions, he also brought Mel Gibson's Passion to the ice, and he also shows and presents this skill at the Linz Junior Grand Prix, the Junior World Cup and the Youth Olympics - this is how the Hungarian boy brings NEK's reputation to the world. At the age of 17, in the adult field.
