The Ministry of Human Resources (Emmi) is supporting the children of the families of the three hundred poorest Hungarian settlements with 40,000 kindergarten starting packages worth 800 million forints in cooperation with the Hungarian Charity Service of Malta, Minister Miklós Kásler announced at a press conference on Monday in Budapest.

The minister announced that families can receive the packages twice, in September and November. They include, among other things, tools to promote kindergarten education, as well as general use items, including hygiene products.

According to the press material distributed at the event, the packages will be delivered through the network of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service and its partner organizations - Catholic Charity, Baptist Charity, Hungarian Reformed Charity and Ecumenical Aid - to around 20,000 young children living in the 300 poorest settlements participating in the Catching Up Settlements program. his family.

Miklós Kásler said that "the creator created in man not only the physiological being", but also the soul, the ability to think, and at the same time, the balanced functioning of the body is necessary for the development of human talent. The minister drew attention to the fact that the beginning of the year is always more difficult for families whose circumstances are "poorer in the social sense". Everyone has a special responsibility to provide help, support and solidarity in the name of love - he stressed, referring to the Christian approach.

Among other things, Prime Minister's Commissioner Miklós Vecsei spoke about how deep poverty is an "other dimension" of existence, when goals are lost. Also referring to the Catch-up Settlements program, he said: even in the 21st century, help must be provided in setting goals, which is a very long process. Regarding the packages, he said: "this is not a gift, these children deserve it".

According to the written summary of the program, the start of the school year means a great financial burden for families living in difficult situations, so the Hungarian government wants to provide help to children in need at the start of kindergarten in addition to school start subsidies - free textbooks and school supplies.

The packages prepared in the logistics center of the Maltese Charity Service are handed over by the Maltese organization and its partner organizations at the 300 locations of the Catching Up Settlements program in kindergartens and families' homes.
