Karácsony represents 99 percent of society by enrolling his son in the high school of the privileged 1 percent, where the cost of an academic year costs the parents more than one million forints, Kontra reports.

"The first of September has come, the day of the start of school. This is also a big day in our family's life, as my son starts high school today," boasted Gergely Karácsony in his Facebook video posted on September 1.

However, the mayor did not make a big deal about where his son will continue his studies. Not by chance, because according to information from Kontra, he and his wife chose one of the most expensive high schools in the country.

Kontra understands that Mihály started his studies on Wednesday at the seven-year Alternative Economic High School (AKG), where he is currently attending the first year at Raktár utca.

As is well known, AKG is a well-known left-wing school: left-wing politicians, actors, artists and media workers like to send their children to the institution.

This is perfectly exemplified by the fact that at that time Ferenc Gyurcsány also enrolled his daughter Anna, who has since graduated from school, here. In addition to the president of the Democratic Coalition, several socialist and SZDSZ politicians also decided in favor of the AKG.

Although the purpose of the school was completely different when it started, today it has become a contact point for the leftist elite, who are caste-separated from other parts of society.

Entering this world is not easy, as students must first pass a strict admission procedure, and then their parents have to reach deep into their pockets.

In the agreement for the 2021/2022 academic year published on the AKG website, it can be read that the institution's operating costs per student are HUF 2.1 million on average, and the amount is, by definition, charged to the parents of the students.

We understand that the school management set the monthly tuition fee for Mihály's grade at HUF 110,000 (socially needy people can apply for support), so the Karácsonys have to pay HUF 1.32 million for their son's education for this school year alone.

The question is how well this fits into the left-wing politician's ongoing campaign, in which he announced a fight against the privileged 1 percent as a "poor boy from the countryside".

It is definitely interesting that the mayor stated a few months ago that he cannot afford to eat lunch in a luxury restaurant all the time, Kontra's article reads.

The director of the Alternative High School of Economics is György Horn, whose brother Gábor is a leading politician of the since-defunct SZDSZ and, incidentally, was a former mentor of Karácsony in the Gyurcsány government - as Origo previously wrote.

He is now the president of the Republikon Foundation. The institution was supported by György Soros after the regime change.
