The five-time Olympic champion Krisztina Egerszegi promotes swimming among children as an ambassador of the Swimming Nation Program, and hopes that thanks to the project, as many minors as possible will get interested in the sport.

The test operation of the Swimming Nation Program starts on Monday. The long-term goal of the program is to encourage children to strive for a healthy lifestyle, thereby improving their quality of life. The medium-term goal is for all children to have the opportunity to learn safe swimming up to the 3rd grade of primary school, regardless of gender, age, identity, social, physical and mental situation.

The idea of the Swimming Nation Program was born three years ago, and the president of the Hungarian Swimming Association, Sándor Wladár, would really like Krisztina Egerszegi to support the program. The five-time Olympic champion athlete usually avoids the limelight and does not like to appear, but after some reluctance, he accepted the invitation and will visit the designated locations in the coming months.

One of the most successful Hungarian athletes at the Olympics said that he made the decision as a parent, as he believes that all knowledge that can be acquired will benefit the children, as they will be more with him and through him.

The 47-year-old athlete is happy to promote the program as an ambassador, but added:

"The success of the program does not depend on me, but on the educators who deal with the children, the bus drivers who transport them, and the local coordinators who organize and keep things in their hands. We need people who work with heart and soul, who really give the children what they need to give. We need instructors who pay attention to the children, because the method that works for one is not certain for the other".

"When the test program starts, I will be happy to visit the children, I will be at the locations, because I am interested in how the education is going. Since I feel the program is my own, I want to be part of it as much as possible - for the time being, the education starts at four locations, we want to expand this to 30 from February, and it will reach all parts of the country in five years, " Krisztina Egerszegi said about her own tasks within the program.
