Before his Mass held in Hősök Square, Pope Francis met at the Museum of Fine Arts with President János Áder, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, then members of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference, and finally the Ecumenical Council of Hungarian Churches and a delegation of Hungarian Jewish organizations.
The meeting with the Catholic bishop was held in the institution's Romanian Hall, which was not open to the public for more than 70 years after the Second World War and was opened in 2018 after a three-year renovation.
