Ferenc Gyurcsány and his candidates want to continue the same failed economic policy with which they almost bankrupted the country and put families in debt, so they must be stopped, Fidesz said in a statement on Tuesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ruling party responded to the fact that Klára Dobrev, candidate for prime minister of the Republic of Denmark, commented on the issue of 4.5 billion euros in foreign currency bonds by the Government Debt Management Center, saying that in the current economic situation, there is no reason to put the country into debt.

Fidesz wrote in a statement: "the Gyurcsánys are speaking, who almost bankrupted the country with their governance, doubled the national debt, the ratio of foreign currency debt and the country's vulnerability to foreign countries".

According to the ruling party, under the government of Ferenc Gyurcsány and the left, Hungary "became totally vulnerable to foreign creditors, the IMF and Soros speculators", and lost the confidence of investors.

In the announcement, attention is also drawn to the fact that the left-wing governments have not only indebted the state in foreign currency, but also families and municipalities.

They add: between 2002 and 2010, the left increased the indebtedness of families from HUF 200 billion to HUF 7,500 billion and the debt of municipalities from HUF 200 billion to HUF 1,200 billion.

According to the ruling party, Fidesz-KDNP "cleaned up" the ruins of the left-wing government, stabilized the country financially and economically since 2010, put the national debt on a downward path, and reduced the ratio of foreign currency debt to a third.

"We have eradicated the era of foreign currency loans, we are helping families to make a living and create a home with the widest support system of all time," the announcement states.

Therefore, there is no need to "run to the IMF" for a loan, because the market and investors trust Hungary, and they are happy to finance Hungary by buying government bonds.

According to Fidesz, on the other hand, Ferenc Gyurcsány and his candidates want to pursue the same flawed economic policy with which they almost bankrupted the country and put families in debt, so they must be stopped.
