"2006. On September 17, a series of demonstrations of a scale not seen since the regime change began after Ferenc Gyurcsány's speech at the closed faction meeting of the MSZP in Balatonőszöd was leaked: the Őszöd speech. The police responded to the series of demonstrations that broke out that day in a manner reminiscent of dictatorships: more than 200 were injured in the intimidating actions.

Is Öszöd's speech an "honest speech of truth" or a cynical confession of unbridled hunger for power?
What led to such a massive wave of protests in 2006, in which the country protested almost as one person?
Who is responsible for violating the right to democracy, freedom of speech, and drowning peaceful demonstrations in blood?

The Civil Solidarity Forum is launching its traveling exhibition entitled "Freedom drowned in blood" to remember this dark and bloody period of the recent past together.

First, on Erzsébet tér in Budapest's 5th district, you can view the exhibition compiled on the basis of documents and recordings from the time, on the 15th anniversary of the beginning of the demonstrations.
Open:

September 18, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m

September 19, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The truck of the traveling exhibition will then go on a tour of the country, and we will continue to provide news about the additional locations and times on many channels, including on Facebook."

( 2022plus : In our original article it was stated that the exhibition will open on the 17th, but since then the organizers have modified the program due to the expected stormy weather. )
