Mayor Gergely Karácsony announced that he will withdraw from the second round of the opposition primary at today's press conference jointly announced with Péter Márki-Zay. Karácsony said: "he will end his campaign for prime minister with a good heart" and asks the parties and organizations that have supported him so far to support Péter Márki-Zay in the second round.

Gergely Karácsony also mentioned that he had to make this "sacrifice" among others because they have doubts about whether Klára Dobrev can defeat Viktor Orbán in 2022.

"I was the one who started his campaign by saying that he does not want the prime ministership even in the middle of his back. I was an unorthodox candidate, no doubt," he said. He knows that this decision is not about him or Márki-Zay, but about how they can reunite Hungary.

"This is a serious sacrifice, not only on my part, but also on the part of the organizations that support me. Our country is in such a situation that if someone does not make sacrifices, he is not a patriot," he said.

It is not worth commenting on these patriotic sentences because of the tears in the eyes , Viktor Orbán also posted his comment on his Facebook page with a word and a picture.

"Unlucky," the Prime Minister wrote in his Facebook post.
