The stakes of next spring's election are perhaps higher than ever before, due to the preservation of the results achieved together in more than a decade, as well as their European representation - the minister leading the Prime Minister's Office stated at his Thursday lecture held as part of the Tisza-parti evenings program series in Szolnok.

According to Gergely Gulyás, all of this is not self-evident: if the left comes to power, we can again "behave as we did in 2006 and the following years" . More than half a year before the voting, all research shows that today the civil side is stronger than at any time before - he underlined, noting that the fact that the opponent is united "from the extreme right to the extreme left, from the Nazis to the communists" does not change this, in fact , perhaps even contributing to the strength of the governing parties.

Nevertheless, the opponent must always be taken seriously, even if he does a lot to be frivolous, the minister added. As he said, it should be made clear what the voters can expect from the current cabinet and from the left, which does not agree on anything other than the will for power.

The head of the ministry pointed out that the opposition consists of many actors and one party: the DK. Ferenc Gyurcsány regained his previously lost position on the left and "we can only hope that as long as the former prime minister is in charge, the Hungarian left will not regain the opportunity to govern in our country," he added. This left is in a worse state today than when it bankrupted the country at the time, it can't even present credible and capable governors, he opined.

Evaluating the work of the civilian government, he explained: after eight years of "left-wing bankruptcy" by 2010, countless debts had accumulated to the system change, which required a radical remedy. By the time of the global economic crisis, Hungary was essentially bankrupt, remaining functional only because it received a 14.5 billion euro loan from the EU and the International Monetary Fund in the fall of 2008.

This situation was caused by the fact that even the favorable years before the crisis were characterized by stagnation and decline, although in 2002 the left took over the governance of a country in good condition, and around this time the surrounding countries underwent spectacular development, he emphasized. . The politician reminded: September 17th was the 15th anniversary of the Öszöd speech, and since then it is clear that it is a historical legacy for the left: the fate of the country is never important, only their own power is.

He also said that "with Ferenc Gyurcsány, a new quality of unscrupulousness appeared, because while even the former communists had a minimal sense of responsibility, Gyurcsány's governance after 2004 showed as a refutation of this: the left is capable of anything for power, including lies and violence." . After such antecedents, in 2010, Fidesz-KDNP took over a country with a national debt that increased from 55 to 83 percent, it had to start governing with a difficult legacy, and it had to break with this difficult legacy once and for all, he indicated.
