Gergely Karácsony ran a bad primary election campaign, and this led to a political downfall, said the head of the Nézőpont Institute in Kossuth radio's Sunday newspaper program.

According to Sámuel Ágoston Mráz, the competitive situation has not changed significantly, because "the desirable model of the Gyurcsány coalition is still that of a strong Ferenc Gyurcsány, strong Democratic Coalition (DK), strong Klára Dobrev, and a strong complementary element to be pushed forward, and this - the politician playing the role of an actor - will not be called Gergely Karácsony, but Péter Márki-Zay".

He noted: according to Nezőpont's measurements, Gergely Karácsony was never mentioned as Viktor Orbán's challenger, since Gergely Karácsony could not even raise around 20 percent against the prime minister who had more than 50 percent support.

According to the analyst, the opposition primary does not meet the conditions related to the elections in any respect. It's about, he said, that what Jobbik, LMP, Gergely Karácsony and Ferenc Gyurcsány were looking for in a camp had to be played out. This play was successful from the point of view that few people now question the fact that the opposition has grown together, he believed.

The political analyst said that the primary election is an "event" for regular voters, even if a candidate gets a lot of votes, it does not mean that he can win the trust of eight million voters.

In politics, it is a sign of weakness if someone does not have a political background, his own faction, or trusted people, so Péter Márki-Zay is a "one-man political entrepreneur", he said.
