Now, only the robust bell tower of the former reformed church in Sükő, built in the 1800s, leaning towards village road 33, remains, but the locals still insist on it.

...The robust tower still standing in the Felszeg part of Sükő belonging to the village of Felsőboldogfalva, which has just over a hundred inhabitants, is tilted in the direction of the village road number 33. Imre Kovács , who also helps the bell ringer, said... that it is actually the remaining part of a Reformed church. The nave part of that building had to be demolished already in the 1970s and 1980s, as the walls were so cracked due to the movement of the earth that it became dangerous to use.

"The problem was so big that our hands already fit into the cracks," he said. Seeing that the tower was also about to fall, the old people of that time decided to demolish a few meters of wall from the upper part, and then cover the structure again, to see if it would remain that way... to this day, the bells in it ring even when there is danger in the settlement . , or if the "big time" is approaching and I want to disperse the clouds ...

...Despite the low number of people, there has always been a strong community in Sükö, which nothing shows better than the fact that thanks to their cooperation, they can currently hold the service in the fifth reformed church, declared... Pastor Levente Szász Lóránt As he said, four churches had been built in the village before, most of them were victims of earthquakes, but there was also one that was struck by lightning. However, thanks to donations from the locals, it was always possible to build a new one ...

...Lóránt Szász Levente said that they definitely wanted to save the characteristic building, so the Reformed Church turned to the Hungarian government for help, which they got. Thanks to this, the church, and the donation of the locals, the preservation of the tower could begin, which consists, among other things, of the renovation and plastering of the roof structure and the ramps. Of course, the bells will still be there. The pastor also touched on the fact that, in the meantime, the leaning tower has become an attraction in the village, so thinking in the long term, its role here would also be strengthened ....
