The daily work of social workers is an important service, which is why the government decided to raise their wages by 20 percent from January, the minister without portfolio responsible for families emphasized during his visit to the Alba Bástya Family and Child Welfare Center in Székesfehérvár on Monday.

Katalin Novák said: the professionals working in the sector have stood up exceptionally well in the past year and a half, and I would like to thank them for this with the wage increase.

Whether it's elderly care or child protection, they do work that helps keep families together, strengthen them, and deal with family problems, he added.

Katalin Novák, speaking about the renovated building of the Alba Bástya with an investment of 800 million, remarked: it is good to see that in Székesfehérvár not only the economy is strengthening, but also that they are thinking about those in trouble and those in need of help, since "a community can be really strong when all its members are taken care of". The minister mentioned that the center can help families with the children's interests in mind. The services that are provided to the city and its surroundings, the entire district, were moved from sixteen different places to one place. When a family comes to the family and child welfare center because they are struggling with problems, they will definitely get professional help, he said.

Mayor András Cser-Palkovics (Fidesz) and Tamás Vargha, the city's Fidesz member of parliament, also thanked the professionals for their support over the past year and a half. They expressed their pride in the center's renovation, as, as they said, they can finally help families and children in a dignified environment.

In May, the Alba Bástya Family and Child Welfare Center took possession of its new home, renovated with a grant of more than HUF 700 million. The 2,000-square-meter building was renovated from basement to attic, barrier-free and energetically modernized, and new equipment and furniture were acquired.
